Neena Prasad – Dancing the Gods festival – New York

★★★✰✰   Mohiniyattam is known as the “dance of the enchantress” – it is extremely feminine and flowing, and devoid of the rhythmic attack and angularity that makes some of the other dances so exciting…

Hong Kong Dance Company – The Legend of Mulan – London

★★✰✰✰   For western audience tastes, there is quite a heavy dose of melodrama in this Mulan – Matthew Ma’s overblown score of soaring strings ramps this up further.

Hamburg Ballet – The Little Mermaid – Washington

★★★✰✰   It’s a somber and dark story; yet in Neumeier’s hands it gets even darker. Don’t expect Disney’s happily-ever-after – this Little Mermaid is certainly not for children.
