All up there was lot of thoughtful and thought-provoking contemporary movement on stage made by some of the best dramatic dancers you will see. The approach is all very grown-up and I hope they do more.

The movement (in Goddard Nixon’s Middlemost Nowhere) was exquisite, at times full of careful balances and slow complex duets, their senses slow and dulled it seems, turning in a moment to explosive speed.

Half-hidden behind pillars or leaning against brick walls were isolated figures in Tyvek paper suits, nursing private angst, waiting their turn to claim our space. Sometimes only the dancers’ coloured outfits distinguished them from disoriented white-clad spectators, dazzled by beams of light.

The Place Prize 2012/13 – Dance Commissions Announced

The 16 entrants competing for The Place Prize for dance, sponsored by Bloomberg, have been awarded a total commission fund of £100,000.
