The Bolshoi Ballet and Orchestra return to the Royal Opera House for a glittering three-week season, opening with the London premiere of a new restaging by Alexei Fadeyechev of Petipa’s magnificent Don Quixote.
There follows Yuri Grigorovich’s adaptation of Swan Lake, based on Petipa and Ivanov’s spellbinding choreography.
Eagerly anticipated are the first live performances in the UK of acclaimed choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot’s production of The Taming of the Shrew in this year of Shakespeare’s celebrations.
Next come three performances of Alexei Ratmansky’s captivating revival of Vasily Vainonen’s The Flames of Paris, which returns to London following its great success last visit. The season ends with four performances of the Bolshoi’s sumptuous staging of Le Corsaire, a reworking by Alexei Ratmansky of Petipa’s exotic grand classic.
Makhar Vaziev has just taken up his role as Artistic Director of the company and casting details are now available – see below and note that casting can change.
